From the hotel or Salvador airport they take you to Salvador’s Maritime Terminal, from where you take a boat to Itaparica Island (50 minutes trip). From there, they take you by private car to the city of Valença, in a 2-hour journey; and then from Valença to Boipeba with a 50-minute boat trip. The transportation include the guide, and it costs around BRL 600 round trip per person and it’s highly recommended for your confort!

This option is the fastest and easiest to get to Boipeba,

From Salvador to Boipeba Island by plane!

Not everyone knows, but it is possible to take a small plane from Salvador airport to Island of Boipeba. The trip takes about 30 minutes, and they usually have three times a day, at 8:30 am, 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm. The average value of a ticket is R$ 610.00 ($130 US) and is done through private agencies. FROM SALVADOR BY FERRY OR CATAMARAN

Getting to Boipeba with this method is a 3-step journey,

1) Crossing from Salvador, the Capital of Bahia to Itaparica via boat or ferry. This step is about 1 hour in duration. Price averaging at R$ 10.00 ($2.00 US)  for Ferry and R$ 70.00 ($14.00 US) for the Catamaran.

2) In Itaparica- bus, van or taxi/private car to Valença (2 hours- inland). Price will depend which way you decide.

3) In Valença- speed boat to Boipeba (1 hour). Avarege price R$ 35 reais.

Once on Boipeba, transportation within the island is primarily on foot, by bicycle, or with the assistance of horse-drawn carts or quads that you can rent in the island.
Remember! Cars are not allowed in the Island 🙂
